Sometimes we feel that technology can easily diminish our creativity. As a teacher, I can have a bias perspective of feeling like several gadgets can stifle a student's creativity. We live in a world where we're so connected and little effort is made to convey our messages. Since then, I have read and viewed various TED Talks that encourages the use of technology and balancing our creativity energy. This week in 6.1 EP you will explore Maxwell's perspective of our dreams. I agree with #1, sometimes we can easily get discouraged by focusing on others dreams. Maxwell explains that this is one of the reasons our dreams are not fulfilled because of having lack of focus!

This week we discussed how individual waste time in our 5.2 EP assignment. In the news there's an article discussing the importance of maximizing time and putting gadgets to good use! I thought this article tied in perfectly with week's 4 time management unit and week's 5 leadership online. Management Theorist Simon Sinek explains people feel safer and are productive with Good Leadership! Leadership skills are valuable for ensuring people are efficient in their working environment. Sinek studies fortune 500 corporations and discovers what will work best for employees. Sinek's work is very similar to Goldsmith's articles that you will analyze this week. Take a look at Sinek's TED Talk video:

Week 5 focuses on “Leadership Online”.  In this unit, you will be researching some articles online, and giving your thoughts to discussion boards.  This week is top-heavy in discussion boards, with only one EP assignment and one journal, but 5 discussion boards!  Be sure to be active in them! Leadership online is an unusual unit, as it is often difficult to see quality examples of leadership on the internet, but some great examples are still out there!

Real World Application:  No 'serious person' should doubt man behind climate change, says Tony Blair  What do you think about the prime minister’s commentary on global warming?  Do you think that the issue is blown out of proportion?  Global warming is a great example of a topic that you can find leadership in the “pros” as well as the “cons”.  It comes down to personal beliefs.  Any thoughts?

In our society, we are known for being connected by several different innovations. Sometimes, we can easily abuse technology in a way that it can hinder our growth. This week has been filled with finding multiple ways to strategize effectively on managing time. Ian Goldin's perspective of time involves the equality of technology and the overall benefits. Its a great view to see a different viewpoint on how mis-management of technology can hurt our advancement in life. Don't ever believe I'm trying to down-talk technology, but we all have pros and cons for its daily uses.
